NAPA: The third annual "Remembering Sasha" community fundraiser takes place Saturday, Oct. 17, from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Napa Junior Girls Softball Fields, 1244 Freeway Drive, and closes with a candlelight vigil. Admission is $5 for adults 23 and older; everyone 22 and younger attends free.

The afternoon brings a softball game with NVGFA, music, food, gifts and a silent auction. New this year is a Home Run Derby, whose registration opened Oct. 1. Every swing supports young women through cosmetology scholarships, mentorship, healing and opportunities for a brighter future.

Proceeds benefit Blending Beauty with Love LLS, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in memory of Sasha Ann Mufich. The organization provides mentorship, cosmetology scholarships, beauty-school supplies, licensing assistance, education, healing retreats and long-term support for young women.

Mufich was 17 when her life was taken by gun violence on April 13, 2024, only hours after she and her mother toured a cosmetology school together. Aileen Villaseñor, 19, was killed alongside her in Napa. October was chosen for the annual gathering because it is Sasha’s birthday month.

The Napa Valley Register covered the event in an Oct. 9 article, "’Remembering Sasha’ to honor Napa teen, fund programs for young women," describing a gathering organized by Mufich’s family to celebrate her life and raise funds for opportunities for other young women. Sponsorship packages for the 2026 event run from $300 to $4,000, with details at longlivesasha.com.
