Frank Family Puts SIMKHAI Lace on a Limited Cabernet for Dress for Success

The Calistoga winery’s 2024 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon arrives in a bottle patterned on a SIMKHAI lace dress. It debuts at the winery on October 24, goes on sale October 26, and sends its support to women building careers.

CALISTOGA: Frank Family Vineyards will sell its 2024 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon in a bottle covered in white lace patterning, under a collaboration with the fashion house SIMKHAI that the winery announced on Tuesday, Oct. 20. The design takes its cue from the Lina Lace Mini Dress in SIMKHAI’s Summer 2026 collection, and the release runs through the winery’s Frank for a Cause giving program in support of Dress for Success Worldwide.

Jonathan Simkhai, the fashion house’s founder and creative director, adapted the guipure lace work of the dress into the bottle’s surface design, according to the announcement. His grandfather ran a lace factory in the 1970s, a family history the winery says sits behind his interest in the material.

Simkhai added, in the same announcement, that the collaboration let his house apply its craft to wine, and that the result should feel special as an object and as a wine.

First pour at the winery on Saturday

The bottle gets its first public showing on Saturday, Oct. 24, at a fashion show and luncheon the winery is hosting at its Calistoga property on Larkmead Lane. The winery’s own event listing and its booking page agree on the shape of the afternoon: a wine reception, a multi course lunch prepared by Bottega Napa Valley, a conversation among winery founder Leslie Frank, Simkhai and Dress for Success chief executive Joanie Bily, and a runway presentation that ends with the new wine’s debut. Tickets are listed at $250, and the winery says each ticket purchase, along with a share of featured wine and apparel sales at the event, will directly support Dress for Success.

General sales open two days later. The winery says the wine will be available beginning Oct. 26 at $90 a bottle through its online shop, and that a gift box version follows at $115 in time for the holiday season. The winery’s event menu already lists the collaborative Cabernet as the pour matched to the dessert course on Oct. 24.

A year of fashion and wine

The bottle is one piece of a longer pairing. In its own account of the partnership, the winery describes a year long run of joint events in New York and Napa Valley. The series began in September, when the winery’s bottles were served around SIMKHAI’s showing of its Spring 2027 collection on Sept. 11, in the middle of New York Fashion Week. The Calistoga luncheon is the partnership’s Napa Valley stop.

The beneficiary works on economic mobility for women, supplying career development, workplace clothing and mentoring through a worldwide network, in the winery’s description and in Dress for Success material quoted in the announcement. Leslie Frank’s connection to the cause is personal as well as corporate: the announcement notes that she has backed the organization for more than twenty years.
